Nonsurgical methods include:
- Pain medications.
- Orthotics as arch supports.
- A cast or boot until the ligaments heal.
If you have tried these methods, still suffer from midfoot pain and have problems with walking or running, surgical methods may be an option for you.
Surgical methods of treating include:
- Lisfranc surgery – this is done to ensure the stability of the midfoot while the ligaments heal. Either by temporary screw fixation or plate and screws.
- Midfoot osteoarthritis surgery – this done to relieve the pain from the movement of the affected joints by fusion the joints.
Speak to your orthopaedic surgeon about your case and what surgical option may be best suited for you.
