Dr Christoff Marais completed his training as an Orthopaedic Surgeon (FC Orth SA, MMed Orth) in 2016. Having a keen interest in Foot and Ankle surgery he continued at Groote Schuur Hospital with a Trauma Fellowship focused on lower limb trauma with Dr Graham McCollum; thereafter, he travelled to the United Kingdom to complete a Fellowship in Adult Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgery with Mr Ian Sharpe at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
He graduated with his MBChB degree from the University of Stellenbosch in 2005. After completing his internship and community service, he spent time as a general practitioner in Ireland and Namibia before following his calling to orthopaedic surgery. On returning to South Africa he gained experience in orthopaedic surgery; spending three years as a medical officer in various hospitals in the Western Cape before joining the specialist training programme at the Groote Schuur Hospital.
Currently Dr Marais is in private practice at Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital and Durbanville Mediclinic. His areas of interest include deformities and degenerative conditions of the foot and ankle, as well as sports injuries.
